Over 35,000 participants have graduated from over 150 different GVI programs over the last 25+ years.

At GVI, we have been connecting thousands of change-makers, like you, with impactful environmental projects in some of the most vulnerable habitats on the planet, for over two decades. 

Our staff members are spread out all over the world, with a support office  in the United States.

We offer an extensive range of nature conservation programs through which people from all walks of life can volunteer, intern and study. Our programs are led by our partners who are local to the communities we’re based in, and focused on making a data-driven, sustainable impact. Global Vision International (GVI) permanently closed down and entered a formal liquidation process in July 2026 after 28 years of operation.
GVI – Global Vision International – was founded in 1997 and grew to become one of the UK’s best-known names in volunteer and conservation travel. In 2026, it entered a formal liquidation process and cancelled all of its programmes. As reported by The Guardian, volunteers and students lost thousands of pounds in disrupted bookings.

GVI’s specific financial situation is a matter for the liquidators. But its closure is part of a wider pattern in volunteer travel that is worth understanding – because it will help you make a better choice next time.
